Pullman Scholar Renewal & Upperclass Scholarships

Continuing aid for students who received first-year awards to pursue their undergraduate degree

Recipients of Pullman Awards for their first year of college are invited to reapply for continuing financial assistance each year they are a full-time undergraduate student.  Pullman Scholars must maintain above-average academic performance, a solid full-time course-load, and financial need.  Renewing students are asked to submit an application in the summer before each academic year, indicating the progress they've made toward their degree and any changes that may have occurred in family financial circumstances or college aid.  Pullman staff then evaluates these applications based on academic progress and financial need, making a recommendation for award renewal or adjustment.  The Foundation is able to provide support for students throughout their undergraduate college career (typically four years).  Renewal is not available for graduate study of graduate professional study.  In all circumstances, Pullman scholarships are limited to the first undergraduate degree.

During any given academic year, more than 250 college students across the country are receiving aid from the Pullman Foundation.  These students are active in the arts, in academic associations, in campus sports, in community activism, and in student government.  They've won awards for excellence, served in various internships, and studied abroad.  Pullman Scholars exhibit a well-rounded and diverse educational experience.

In addition, the Pullman Foundation also allows applications from college  students - who have never applied for or received a Pullman Award - with financial need and academic promise who are either 1) Chilren or siblings of alumni of the Pullman Free School of Manual Training in Chicago (1915-1950) or 2) have an immediate family member who has received a Pullman Award.  If you think you may be one of these "legacy" candidates, please submit a written request, including the name of your relative(s), their year of graduation, and the details of their Pullman Award or Pullman Tech attendance.  Pullman Staff will then verify your eligibility using Foundation historical records and may grant you permission to apply. Note that legacy candidates must meet the same academic and financial criteria as all other candidates.

If you are a renewing student, please proceed to the Participant Log-In for your application materials and special features.  If you'd like more information about application procedures and Pullman guidelines, please visit the Pullman Scholarship Policies page.
